SETAC Europe supports SETAC members who would like to attend a SETAC Europe annual meeting with a grant programs. The program is supported by the SETAC Europe reinvestment fund and sponsors.

The grant program is constantly developing and therefore, we can not yet announce the grants available for the SETAC Europe 31st Annual Meeting from 2-6 May 2021 in Seville, Spain.  More information will follow.

SETAC Europe 30th Annual Meeting

At the SETAC Europe 30th Annual Meeting the following grants could be offered:

Supported by the SETAC Europe reinvestment fund and Syngenta, a limited number of registration, travel and training course grants were available for SETAC student members (active membership is required). The applicant must be based in a geographical area administered by SETAC Europe (Europe, Middle East and Russia) or SETAC Africa.

  • Registration Grants, will offer a free meeting registration.
  • Travel Grants, support participants with up to maximum 250€ with their costs to travel to the meeting (travel costs only, visa and accommodation are not included).
  • Training Course Grants, will provide a free training course participation. Applicants must choose one course they would like to attend.

It is possible to apply for all grants in one application or for selected grants only.

Eligibility

  • Candidates must be a SETAC student member (BSc, MSc and PhD students). A guest or lapsed membership is not valid and the membership must be valid until after the meeting. Not sure about your membership status? Please check here or contact us.
  • Must live and reside in Africa, Europe, Middle East or Russia.
  • Must present a platform or poster presentation in Dublin – proof of abstract acceptance letter (please, upload the email as pdf). Late poster abstracts will not be accepted.

NOTE: It is not possible to register with the combi fees (membership plus registration), as applicants must have an active membership at the time of application. Do not register for the meeting before you have been informed about the grant decision.

Application Instructions

The following materials comprise a complete application package submitted via the online application portal:

  • Active student membership with SETAC Europe or SETAC Africa;
  • A complete application form;
  • A brief CV or Resume (maximum 2 pages);
  • Abstract acceptance email
  • Valid student proof
  • A supporting statement/ recommendation letter by the applicant’s advisor (one-side, single-page maximum)

Please, do not register for the meeting before you have been informed about the decision.

Conditions

  • Candidates can only receive the student free registration and travel funding for two annual meetings.
  • Grants are personal and can not be given to others.
  • Registration and travel grant recipients are expected to attend the full meeting (Sunday – Thursday).

NOTE: All monetary stipends will be awarded at the annual meeting and receipts (e.g. flight or train ticket) must be provided

Recipients can register for the full meeting for the SETAC reduced member registration fee of 320€ instead of the regular fee of 635€.

Eligibility

Candidates must be an active SETAC member with a recent graduate status.

  • A guest or lapsed membership is not valid.
  • The membership must be at least active till the last day of the annual meeting.
  • To qualify as a recent graduate:
    • members must have received the primary degree related to the Society’s ethos environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology
    • graduation is no longer than 3 years ago (copy of degree may need to be provided)

NOTE: It is not possible to register with the combi fees (membership plus registration), as applicants must have an active membership at the time of application.

  • Contact information;
  • Personal Statement outlining why the candidate requires the reduced fee, the motivation to participate at the meeting and how participating benefits their own research or career (e.g. research focus, network) (maximum 1 page);
  • A brief CV or Resume (maximum 2 pages)

  • Candidates can only receive the reduced registration fee funding for two annual meetings.
  • Grants are personal and can not be given to others.

Recipients can register for the full meeting for the SETAC reduced member registration fee of 320€ instead of the regular fee of 635€.

Eligibility

Candidates must be an active SETAC member with a senior active status.

  • A guest or lapsed membership is not valid
  • The membership must be at least active till the last day of the annual meeting
  • To qualify as a senior active member:
    • members must be a member in good standing for three years
    • be at least 62 years of age and not be working full time

NOTE: It is not possible to register with the combi fees (membership plus registration), as applicants must have an active membership at the time of application.
